| Game 64 - WAS 4, BAL 3 (49-15) The Nats extended the winning streak to 16 games as Shawn Hill held the Orioles powerful lineup in check allowing three runs. Richie Wilhite pitched a perfect ninth for his 20th save of the season. PJ Phillips homered in his fourth consecutive game to give him 19 on the year.
Game 65 - BAL 5, WAS 3 (49-16) Colten Willems ran into trouble in the middle innings as the Washington win streak was finally snapped. One streak did continue as PJ Phillips homered for his fifth consecutive game, giving him an even 20 on the year. Phillips, Brian McCann and Marcos Vechionacci all collected two hits in the losing effort.
Game 66 - BAL 12, WAS 7 (49-17) The O's hammered Gaby Hernandez, scoring 10 earned runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings. Washington added some runs late but it was not enough to top the Baltimore outburst. PJ Phillips homered for the sixth game in a row, bringing his season total to 21. He was 3 for 5 on the day. Miguel Cabrera hit two doubles and Marcos Vechionacci clobbered a three-run homer (4) in other offensive highlights.
Game 67 - WAS 16, TOR 2 (50-17) A day after being bombarded by the O's, the Nats put on a show of their own pounding out 21 hits and scoring 16 runs. Charleton Jimerson got the start in center field and had a great day, going 4 for 5 with a home run and 6 RBI's. Brian McCann also collected 4 hits, a home run and had 4 RBI's. Michael Durant doubled twice and had 4 RBI's as well. Rich Harden benefitted from the cushion and went to 10-0 allowing two runs in seven innings.
Game 68 - TOR 6, WAS 3 (50-18 ) Joe Nathan did not enjoy his normal 2011 day as he was tagged for six runs in seven innings. He is now 12-2 on the year and his ERA went over 2 for the first time all year. Miguel Cabrera had a nice day going 3 for 4 at the plate. Grady Sizemore was 2 for 4, smacking his 16th home run of the year.
Game 69 - WAS 7, TOR 3 (51-18 ) Five home runs provided the offense for Washington as Shawn Hill won for the 8th consecutive start. Michael Durant clobbered two home runs, while Miguel Cabrera, Brian McCann and Bill Hall each added one of their own. Rookie Aaron Tikaren, up for a brief stint following the retirement of Scott Podsednik, went 2 for 4. Hill allowed two runs in eight innings to improve to 9-3. | |
