2011 free agency discussion

Instead of posting comments about bids with each player, this will be a general discussion about this year's free agency.

This will consolidate the trash talking and bragging, and will allow the most recent bid and time stamp to stand and mark when that player is coming up on the 24 hour mark. (hopefully that makes sense)

FYI, we will just be locking a player thread when he is signed, instead of replying "signed" and then locking. This will keep the signed players at the end of the list.

Some crazy bids going on, I know there are some surprised owners that were planning on getting some big names like Tracy and Beckett who are looking for alternatives now.

I'd like to know who all is getting over 10M a year... any ideas, as I'm not watching each player. If you know of one where the bidding has reached this amount please post them here.

WOW!!! I had no idea the bidding for Ramirez was up to 7yrs @ 25 million.... this could top the 10 year 24 million dollar deal Fielder got (hint hint, you can go over 7 years for extra crazy bidding )

I count 3 20 million dollar deals so far... Ramirez, Beckett, and Tracy.

everyone should have the same scouting, but after i moved revenue sharing money around it threw it off. I've played with it, and it will balance out again by late April. In the meantime you should always use Baltimore scouting (click on baltimore in standing for finance, then use them to "find players", "find free agents", or trade with other teams, to view their players using +-0 scouting. If you just use your team it will be anywhere from +-1 to +-12. Which means their ratings would be off by quite a bit.

consider the bidding on ramirez open for now... unless Cleveland can explain that I don't think it will stand. 50million bump doesn't make sense, hasn't been around, etc. maybe just being funny.

I figured that when it said 7 28M that it was years and total salary. If that was per year then withdraw my bid.

and I hope it's not me but I'd think 28 mil over 7 years easily trumps 21 mil over 10 years

i'd have to agree.... from a logic standpoint... after 7 years is up with the 7 year offer he would be 49M richer than if he were making 21M per year (7x7). He would have less money until approximately 1/3 of the way through season 10.
