3 -3 this week, disappointing considering we played Toronto and Boston. We took 2 of 3 from Toronto, but had a disappointing 1-2 series at Boston.
In the first Toronto game, Josh Rupe got hammered for 7 runs in the first 2 innings. The O's were never able to come back from this early deficit. Game 2 saw Lester step up, striking out 11 in 7 innings. Despite this we trailed 1-0 going into the 8th inning. Luke Scott knocked in 2 in the 8th, and Mark Ellis added an insurance run with an RBI triple in the ninth. In game 3 the offense led the way, scoring 12 times on 19 hits. Luke Scott continued his hot hitting of late, going 4-5 with 2 doubles, a single, and a HR. RBI's were spread throughout the team, with everyone except Renteria getting at least 1. Renteria had 2 hits though, meaning everyone got a hit.
We started out well against Boston, scoring 15 runs on 21 hits and 6 walks. The O's had 4 doubles and 1 HR, meaning quite a few singles for the team. Felipe Lopez and Jeremy Hermida had 4 hits, and Gotay, Scott, and Paulino each had 3. Livan Hernandez had another great game, going 8 Innings and only giving up 2 runs for his 8th win. Game 2 was a pitchers duel between Cesar Ramos and Zach Duke. The O's trailed 1-0 going into the ninth, and scored a run to tie the game up. Britton couldn't keep the Sox off the board though in the bottom of the ninth, meaning a 2-1 loss. Game 3 was another close loss, with the O's losing 5-4.
The O's will be without Carlos Delgado for 11 more days, and James Loney for another week. Good news has been the recent play of Luke Scott. Over the last 10 games he's racked up 19 hits for a 500 batting average. Included in those 19 hits are 8 doubles and 1 HR, for a .789 slg avg. Next week we are home vs Texas, and then travel to LAA prior to the All Star Break.
