Good week for the O's, as we went 5-1 against Cincinnati and Milwaukee on the road.
Things got off to a rough start as the bullpen blew a great start by Travis Chick. Chick went 7 innings giving up 2 before the bullpen imploded giving up 6 runs in 3 innings for the loss. The offense was led by Felipe Lopez and Gotay, each with 3 hits. Gotay hit his 16th and 17th Home Runs as he continues to have an awesome season. The O's bounced back and put the smack down on Cincy in game 2. Jerome Williams went 8 scoreless innings, and the offense scored 10 in this blowout win. Ryan Howard continued to be red hot since coming to the AL, going 2 for 4 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. Game 3 was a nailbiter... trailing by 4 after 6 innings, the Orioles scored 5 in the 7th to take the lead, only to see closer Britton blow the save and give up the tying run in the bottom of the ninth. Reed Johnson hit a solo homerun in the 12th for the win.
Game one of the Milwaukee game saw the O's duplicate the Reds game one performance from earlier in the week. The O's trailed by 4 going in to the 7th, but scored 1 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th, and 3 in the 9th for the win. Lopez and Howard each homered and knocked in 2, and James Loney scored 2. The bullpen held things down during the comeback, giving up just 1 unearned run. Game 2 was an easy win for Josh Rupe, as he went 7 innings giving up 1 run. The offense scored 7 and was led by homers by Loney, Howard, and Scott, and 3 RBI from Loney and Howard. Game 3 against the Brewers was more of the same, as Lester picked up his 7th win and the offense scored 10. Lester gave up 2 runs in 6 innings, and several players had big games offensively. Gotay led the way going 3 for 6 with 5 RBI. Reed Johnson also had 3 hits, and Trot Nixon went 4-4 with 3 doubles
At weeks end the Orioles boasted a 290 TEAM batting average... 2nd to only the Mariners. Ryan Howard has settled in nicely, batting 290 with 16 home runs in his 31 games with the team. Next week the O's return, but face a tough test as the Cards and Astros come to town. We follow that up with a 4 game series at home vs the 2nd place Yankees
