The TBD went 4-2 in week two placing them in second place behind baltimore. We took 2 of 3 games from both the red sox and yankees. the dray pitching was unhittable allowing 1,1,2,0,1 and then struggled giving up 5. The games were exciting if you like pitchers duels for sure. DRay ace Jeremy Bonderman struck out 11 batters in 8 innings in one game. Not much else to say... pretty simple week.

Rough Second Week for the Pirates

April 18, 2010

PITTSBURGH, PA. (AP) - The new General Manager, Andrew Lizon, didn't see much to be happy about during the second week of the 2010 season. Getting swept in a two game series against the Cardinals and a three game series against the Brewers, the Pirates are now a sad 2-9 on the year so far.

When asked how he thinks about the teams progress, Andrew kept his calm but showed that he was definitely not happy about the team's slow start.

"Progress? That's definitely not progress," Andrew Lizon, the Pirates new G.M. said to the press. "Look, we've hit some bumps in the road so far with injuries and what not, but I still think we have a solid ball club. It's all about filling in the pieces. We will continue to monitor how the team does during the next month or so, and then re-evaluate our priorities to determine what moves we need to make next."

When asked about the incidident in the club house after their 9-8 loss to the Brewers on Sunday between the manager and the team's starting catcher Gerald Laird, he didn't have much to say.

"I really have no comment on the matter. What happened in the club house has been taken care of internally and everything is back to normal."

Next up on the plate for the Pirates, the Reds and Cubs come into town for a two game series a piece, and then it's off to New York to face off against the dangerous Mets in a three game series.

Brewers play all 6 games this week on the road. Got smashed by the Braves 0-3 and out scored by 24/2 in the 3 games, but bounced back to go 3-0 against the Pirates.
Glad to get back to our own ball park next week for some tough games.

Baltimore continued their fast start by sweeping a 3 game series at Texas, and then splitting a 4 game series at the Angels, who are also off to a good start.

Jerome Williams bounced back in the first game of the week after struggling in his Orioles debut. Williams went 8 innings, with 4 ks, 4 hits, 0 walks, and 1 earned run. Game 2 at Texas saw Livan Hernandez put up a decent 6.2 inning 3 run outing, and the offense was powered by 2 RBIs from Gotay and Delgado. In the 3rd game at Texas we put up 11 runs to go with another 1 run outing from our pitching staff. Zach Duke got his 2nd win, going 7.2 innings and giving up the lone run allowed. The offense was led by 3 hits from Renteria and Overbay, homers from Delgado and Loney, and 3 RBIs from Overbay.

First game of the Angels series saw a 3-1 loss, with the O's scattering 10 singles resulting in the 1 run. Game 2 saw a no hitter from Jon Lester. For a no-hitter, it was a rough outing. Lester struck out 13 and walked 5, resulting in a ridiculous 167 pitch outing. May have to have a word with the coaching staff after this one! The following game was another great outing from Jerome Williams, who went 8 innings once again, this time giving up 6 hits, 1 walk, and 0 ER. It appears Williams could be in for a monster season as he's rounding into form. Game 4 saw Hernandez get knocked around again, and the bullpen give up 3 runs. 4 runs wasn't enough to win, was the O's blew a 4-1 4th inning lead to lose 7-4.

So far a solid season from the O's. The offensive power seems to be off to a slow start, as the O's have less than half of the 2nd place Rays 22 home runs, with only 10 so far. However we're hitting .285 so far, with a Starter ERA of 2.88, and a bullpen ERA of 2.25. So far we're putting up a solid 5.5 runs a game, and allowing only 2.61 runs a game. Next week is a big week, with 2 games at Boston, 2 games at home vs Tampa Bay, and 3 more games at home against the Yankees.

Again, the #1 and #2 starters for Cincinnati struggle for a
second week while the rest of the rotation owns. And the
offense? With a couple of exceptions, it's been pounding
out the hits yet another week. We ran into a bit of trouble
with those pesky Cubbies, but swept the Rockies.

Full week next week with 7 games, 2 vs Pirates, 2 vs Cards,
and 3 vs Cubs. Here's to hoping Morillo and Perkins find
their groove.

The Los Angeles Angels continue to play great baseball. They have taken over the division here in the 2nd week of the season. This week they played all their games at home. In 3 games against Oakland a team they previously swept on the road they managed to take 2 out of 3. In the series finale, we saw some struggles from the bullpen as the closer, Feliciano, loaded the bases with 2 outs in the top of the 9th with a 1 run lead. He was able to strike out Kurt Suzuki to end the game and ease the tension of the crowd.

Next in town were the Baltimore Orioles for a 4 game series, who are dominating the AL East division. They came into the series with a 8-1 record. The LA team was very happy to split the series 2-2 against such a great opponent. The Angels took game 1 of the series, but in game 2 the LA crowd saw some history, though they probably wish they didn't. Jon Lester of the Orioles threw a no hitter, as the Orioles took the game 1-0. Adam Harben pitched great allowing 1 run in 6.2 innings. The one run coming on a passed ball in the 6th inning. It was a tough loss, but with the way Lester was pitching you can't afford any mistakes.

Key Injuries: Pedro Feliciano (closer) dislocated his shoulder and will be out for 21 days.

So the Angels have ended week 2 and have seen their record go to 8-5 with a half game lead over the Mariners.

Week 1: 4-2
Week 2: 4-3

Just think of all those injury and offseason problems as an opportunity to show your managerial skills!

I'm working on it... however, I should at least get the Wild Card since I designed the team to withstand multiple injuires. (I lived without a Red-Hot Vlad last year for 8 weeks, the one who was averaging something like .370 and on pace for 60 HR/140 RBI at the time he was injured)
