Hello everybody, just wanted to provide an update following the lack of sims over the last few days. I've spoken to Admin and for the time being I'll be doing more around here to help out. Following is my plan of what will be going on for the rest of the regular season and playoffs, and a tentative plan for the offseason.

The sim I ran today went through September 4th, so I'll start there:

7/4 sim through 9/4
7/5 sim through 9/11
7/8 sim through 9/18
7/9 sim through 9/25
7/10 sim through 10/2 end of regular season
7/11 First round of playoffs
7/12 Second round of playoffs
7/15 World Series *** could possibly combine playoffs to finish earlier

This would mean free agency would start as early as the day after the World Series is over. Depending on the # of owners at this time I'd like to consider pausing to add owners. This seems like the best time to add owners. I'll get to this more in a minute.

Going forward after this season depends largely on the owners in this league. Prior to being gone last week this was my take on the league. There's been some comments about the league being less active, but I tend to believe that the league has matured a bit. Owners are starting to be happier with their teams, so trading is less necessary. I believe the recent vote to increase revenue sharing will help make the league more competitive and force some teams to make changes to spend less sooner (although not right away), and will help some of the less attractive teams become more attractive and competitive. I'll be posting the estimates for this plan in the next day or two.

Up until last week here is my take on the current ownership. The first group had been checking in every day, the other owners I've noted when they last logged in:

Active owners (check in daily)
Arizona ____ Defense
Baltimore____ jcclemen2/jcc_paco
Cubs____ cubfan131
Cincinnati____ Cincinnati GM
Colorado ____ admin
Detroit____ sublimeyanks
Brewers____ Brewers GM
Minnesota____ ty84moss
Mets____ tunit
San Fransisco____ SanjiWatsuki
Seattle____ Kaameleon
St. Louis ____ ashfl
Tampa Bay____ thrower25usr
Toronto ____ Lobsteve
Washington____ uscsteve

Teams with less active/resigned/questionable owners
Atlanta____ guerrilla ____ 6/15
Boston____ thesoxrock34____ 5/24
White Sox____ dadadad____ 5/30
Cleveland ____ cb4magiccb4____ resigned I think
Florida____ satorini____ 6/14 3 posts total
Houston____Nolan Ryan____6/2 resigned because he doesn't have 07
KC____ Jones (I think)____ 5/9
Angels____ coolwill78____ 5/6
Dodgers____ Bruins0615____ 5/7 told me he had quit
Yankees____ Captain Clutch____ 5/23
Philadelphia____ deputydan ____ 5/19

Teams with no owner that I know of
Oakland
Pittsburg
San Diego
Texas

My plan is to send a PM to every current owner listing asking them to check in. For the owners on the active list this will be pretty simple. Basically just a quick note to say you're still around, with the exception being to send me a PM if you can't continue for some reason in the near future. This is a great core group of 15 owners that have built some powerhouse teams, great farm systems, teams that should compete within 2-3 years, rebuilt some teams in horrible shape, etc. I've enjoyed competing and dealing with all of you so I'd like to see this keep going to see what happens. Part of this also might mean coming up with some new moderators as we've got some that are busy the next few months or haven't been around lately.

Next I'll PM the less active owners. In order to keep their team they'll need to check in. In addition if they want to keep their team they'll basically be on probation. If they aren't more active in the coming season they'll most likely lose their team. There are some pretty popular teams in this list... Atlanta, Boston, White Sox, Indians, Houston, both LA teams, the Yankees, and Philly.

Once this is done we'll have an accurate list of available teams. I believe the current GM list is very out of date, and the list of available teams we've been providing to interested owners isn't helping us get new owners. If we have better/more popular teams available we'll be more likely to get new owners. I also think if we promote the revenue sharing plan this could generate some interest as well. I will take this list of open teams and each teams estimated financial position after taking revenue sharing into consideration and do what I can to promote this league and recruit over the next week leading up to the World Series.

Once we complete the World Series we'll have a better idea of where we stand. I'd like to see 22 or more owners before starting the offseason, so if we need to pause to recruit more, or possibly consider switching to Mogul 08 this will be the time to do it. Until then expect to see me follow the schedule I posted above. In addition I'll be throwing up some ideas to consider in the offseason voting, and we'll welcome in other ideas as well. Among the ideas are a few for the offseason specifically. I'd like to consider some ideas to help speed the offseason up a little. Basically this would be a couple ideas, which I'll post in the offseason discussion shortly. Part of this would be shortening the 24 hour window for an offer to be accepted to 18 or even 12 hours after the first 4 or 5 days of free agency. In addition once all the A and B free agents are signed we will be able to go ahead and hold the draft. Basically I'd like to have something a little more concrete in place so the offseason doesn't drag on. I'd like to get this to where we can finish the Playoffs, and have a two week schedule to get us through free agency, the amateur draft, and spring training.

If you took the time to read this spiel from me thanks, let me know your thoughts on this, and good luck to all the teams still in the playoff hunt.

You mentioned consideration of switching to '08. I just wanted
to point out that in '08, the draft occurs in June, game time.
Keep that in mind if we make the move.

I agree that offseason needs to move along just a touch
quicker. My suggestion (if we stick with '07)? Have a set
number of days for free agency. Once those days are up,
move to the draft regardless of who is signed. Keep free
agency open, though. People can still bid on free agents
during the draft period. Then have a set number of days
to wrap things up after the draft. If there are still free
agents out there, so be it. It won't hurt for a signing or
two to go into the first or second week of April. My 0.02.
