We need a system to decide who's deal is better. How much is an extra year worth? Should NTC be worth anything? What about play options? Should contracts to players in their late 30s be weighted the same as players just out of arbitration and entering their prime? Someone smarter than me should figure this out.

I agree, also I'd like to cap league minimum deals at 2 or 3 years. There is no cost to cut these, so no incentive for a player to sign this long. That should be easy, the other part not so much.

I don't think that NTC, Player Options, and Team Options should be worth anything. If they are worth something, then players will abuse them to avoid paying extra salary.
