Because I have nothing better to do than to learn how to type with the kid on my lap, I went through all the freeagent and had a look see at how things wound up. (And it does include the duplicate Eric Milton since I didn't notice him till after.)

This is accurate through February.

Total Number of Signees: 100
Total Money for 2008: 161.17M
Average Salary: 1.612M
Highest Rated Player: Vernon Wells, 94 (Philadelphia)
Lowest Rated Player: Kevin Gregg, 69 (San Diego)
Average Rating: 80.19
Highest Average Rating: Boston, 86
Lowest Average Rating: Atlanta, 75.5
Highest Spending: Philadelphia, 38.2M
Lowest Spending: Atlanta, 600K
Highest Average Salary: LA Dodgers, 6.08M
Lowest Average Salary: San Diego, 350K
Most Players Signed: Colorado, 18
Fewest Players Signed: Tampa Bay, NY Mets, LA Angels, Boston, Atlanta (2)

Best Value for their money: Colorado (80.84 average rating, 389K average salary)

Yes yes yes. Too much time on my hands. If there's anything else people want to know, just ask. It's rather long, but if the demand is great I'll throw up the raw data.

That is just for 1 year though, but yes, it is quite low. About 30M less that what the Yankees are spending this year.

It did get me to thinking that maybe there should be a minimum offer for free-agents. Something like 50% of what they are asking in game. It seems silly that players of the quality of David Esckstein (1.5M/year, 86 rating) and Mike Lowell (2M/year 90 rating) are going so cheap.

I'm not entirely sure, but it seems that the except for Wells there wasn't alot of bidding on the top players whereas the middle of the pack (80-85) garnered the most interest and action. Odd.

That is some cool info. A little surprise the average salary is just over 1.5 million(when looking at real life).

In other news, this site is worth over $5,000 according to dnScoop.com

That is because you put in "outaheresports.com", which isn't this site's real url. If you put in https://baseballmogul2007.editboard.com/index.htm, it will come up as 5k
