| The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have shocked the world and half way through the season are tied for second place in the tough American League East and the the American League Wildcard. They have a young up and coming core and a solid rotation. This team's payroll is below $30million and they get the most bang for their buck. The fact that they are in second with $30million payroll in a division with the yankee's $251.7million, boston's $112.0million payroll, toronto's $108.0million payroll, and baltimore's $86.4million payroll, makes the job that their brilliant not to mention good looking GM all the more impressive. If the D-Rays can keep together the core of Nolasco, Lester, Jacobs, Clement and the rest of the crop they will be able to compete for years to come. Despite the incredible job this team is doing with such meager resources, they are only averaging just under 13,000 fans at each game. They hope to keep the core together but unless their revenue improves, it will be difficult. The GM has requested some form of revenue sharing among the teams that way the lower revenue teams can stay competetive but unfortuantely the comish who must feel like a king , and his gang of mods , have been acting as cruel tyrants in denying these requests , leaving Tampa's GM confused . but seriously, some kind of revenue sharing would be sweet | |

| No love for the Marlins who, as of July 13, are tied for the best record in the entire National League... with a $40 million payroll?
I second the revenue sharing idea.

| Keep that idea to the end of the season. I am sure we could discuss it, like a "winter meetings" type of thing | |

| This is what I was going to do in the league I tried to get going.
Each team contributes 25% of thier total revenue as of the last day of the season. the money will be pooled and then evenly distributed amongst all teams.
Post season revenue would not be shared under this set up, as a sort of reward to making the post season

| Or why not go with a luxury tax like MLB has now, based on team payroll. | |

| some of the ideas above for revenue sharing are good but i think wed have to have a chatroom or seperate thread for this to decide the fallowing: 1) What is a small market? 2) How many of these small market teams should get help 3) How many teams should be taxed 4) How much should they be taxed
depending on the answers to some of these, more questions will come up but were not up to that yet

| I actually like these ideas, and a draft composition one, but changes should be held off until the offseason. After that, we can make a thread in the comments/suggestions forum discussing these things. Just what I think.. | |
